8 Week Summer Series For Tweens/Teens
June: 6th, 13th, 20th & 27th, July: 11th, 18th, & 25th, & August: 1st
Thursdays 10am- 11:15am
This 8 week summer series is a proactive approach to provide tweens/teens with insightful knowledge and tools and techniques to help alleviate, cope and understand experiences that we ALL deal with in life. The class will meet once a week throughout the summer (minus the week of July 4th) for an hour and 15 mins. The series is intended to cover the whole being: mind, body, and spirit, and this will be achieved through a life coaching topic, yoga, and meditation. Some topics covered will include: self esteem, anxiety, grief, and mild drepression. The kids will further experiment with different forms of yoga including: the basics of a vinyasa flow, yoga out in nature, stand up paddle board yoga (SUP yoga), and aerial yoga. In addition, each class will introduce and practice a new method of meditating. An eight week duration was chosen because studies suggest that just eight weeks of meditation changes the brain for the better. Meditators after 8 weeks have shown a shrinkage of the amygdala, a region of the brain associated with fear, anxiety, and stress. The class can only accommodate a handful of kids so it's anticipated to fill up fast. The cost of the 8 week summer series is $160.
Disclaimer: The first participants to sign up and pay will be included in the class till it's full. Once full, your child can be put on a waiting list if another participant may drop out, or if What'SUP decides to offer an additional class time. There will be no refunds issued after June 2nd unless What'SUP can find a participant to fill the spot.
